We Are the Union Are Going On Hiatus in 2013

by on February 13, 2013

The Detroit, Michigan based punk-ska act, We Are the Union, has announced that they will not continue to be an “active” band. The band had a nearly eight year career with four separate releases and countless tours. To read a complete statement from the bands Facebook , see below-

We’ve decided to take a hiatus from active status. This does indeed mean we will not be playing Block Party in New Orleans. Usually this type of announcement would be accompanied by a longwinded rant about how unique our struggle was, how every ending is a new beginning, or something else equally stupid and bullshitty. I’d rather just leave it at this:

We were a band. Maybe someday we will be again. We’ve had some amazing times, and we truly appreciate those of you who’ve contributed to our existence. We’ve never been a supercool hype band or uberpunx beardy band, so we thank each and every one of you who listened to our music over the years. It means a lot to us.

If you haven’t yet, you can still grab our latest record, You Can’t Hide The Sun, overhere. The vinyl is now in, and all three colors look fantastic!

For anyone who’s interested in what we’re all going to be up to in the near future, Reed is writing for a solo project and going to school full time, Brandon is working on a new project with ex-WATU member Noah Fenton and teaching bass lessons at Axis Music Academy, Jim is playing drums in Counterpunch, and Ricky is playing bass inThe Hit Society.

I’m going to get a sandwich.
