Florida based punk band Go Rydell took to their Facebook to post an announcement that their fans did not exactly want to hear. After nearly five years of being a band Go Rydell announced that they will be breaking up. The band is expected to announce some form of a farewell show over the next few weeks. For the complete statement explaining why GR is closing up shop, see below-
Since Go Rydell formed back in 2008, we made a promise to one another to quit while we’re ahead if we ever got to the point where we weren’t enjoying the time we spent together in the band. Over the past few years, there has been some changes to our lineup that further allowed us to tour and keep this wonderful thing alive; however, with new side projects, careers, school and other ventures, we decided to call it quits after five great years as a band. We were fortunate enough to tour as much as we could, meet some of the greatest people we have ever met, and enjoy our friendships while creating new ones. I am humbled and proud of what this band accomplished and what we will do individually after this is all said and done. We plan on playing ONE last show for some of our closest friends before we completely call it quits. If you had ever given Go Rydell a chance, then we suggest you pay attention to Teen Agers, Direct Effect, You Blew It!, Featherweight and other amazing bands coming out of Florida. We are very lucky to be from Florida, although every state we had the privilege of playing was like a home away from home. Thank you.
* We will be posting all of our demos and rare recordings that we never released onto our bandcamp page as well for your ears!
*We have some merch and a few records left over so hit us up if you want some before we give it away at our last show.
