Fans of seminal-alt-punk band, the Replacements are in for a treat. Kind of. Rolling Stone reports that frontman Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson recently entered a studio and tracked material for a covers EP set to be released sometime before the years end. The EP, a set of four covers, will be pressed on a limited (to 250) 10-inch vinyl and all profits will go to benefit former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a “severe stroke” this past February. Even though former Replacements drummer, Chris Mars‘ did not perform on the new set of tracks, this seems to be the closest fans will be to a full reunion.
